Photoshoots make for amazing dates. Here's why:

You get to be creative together.

Photoshoots don't have to be stiff. In my experience, people have the most fun on photoshoots when they really don't feel like photoshoots. Go to one of your favorite places together! That might mean your favorite coffee shop, a book store, the thrift store, your local park, your kitchen, etc. Mallory and Quinn (the wonderful couple pictured here in this gallery) opted to go to the spot where they had their second date. Photoshoots are a great way to relive a special memory and make a new one. And despite what you may think, they present the perfect opportunity to be creative and try new things. Go jump in a lake or paint together. My point is, there's a lot of freedom that comes with photography.

You’ll get to feel all the butterflies again.

You'll pull each other close, do some twirls, sneak kisses, hold hands, and laugh A LOT. Flirting with one another is highly encouraged. I like to incorporate shots with lots of movement so couples might have to take turns swinging each other around, fighting to land a kiss, or chasing each other. Photoshoots encourage you to step out of your shell a little bit which can make your tummy feel queasy or excited, perfect for awakening the butterflies.

You get to be fools together.

I'll admit it, even as a photographer, I hate getting in front of the camera. It feels awkward, you don't know what you're supposed to do with your hands or where to look, and you can feel a little self-conscious. But that's exactly why doing this with your person makes it that much better. You get to try new poses and giggle and feel awkward together. And at the end of the day, you'll have accomplished something together too.

You get to document the experience!

This seems like an obvious point, but think about it. How many times have you been on a date or just hanging out and you get done only to realize you never stopped to take a photo together. You don't have to look at a photoshoot as a "photoshoot". One way you can think of it is that you're going on a date, a photographer happens to be there, and now you get high quality photos of you and the person you love.

So what are you waiting for?

Just imagine, these could be the photos your kids and grandkids will see someday. They'll see the two of you young and in love and happy together. There's no time like right now.
