FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

THE EXPERIENCE

How long have you been shooting?

I can hardly believe that it’s been about 5 years now! In that time I’ve done 30+ weddings as well as a range of other things like music festivals, live births, and large events.

How many photos do I get?

Only five. Just kidding! I don’t really like to put a number on how many photos I deliver and I definitely don’t hold any hostage. I want you to have all the good ones. Every wedding and session is different, so the number will vary. Typically weddings end up being about 600-800 photos and couples and portraits usually fall in the 50-150 range. I’ve never had anyone complain that they didn’t receive enough images.

How will I receive my photos?

I use a gallery delivery site called Pic-Time to deliver your images to you. It’s an easy-to-use personal online gallery for you to view your photos, mark your favorites, download high-res images, and even buy prints, canvases, albums, cards, etc.! You will have access to this gallery forever, but I always encourage downloading everything to a hard drive or somewhere safe within the first three months of receiving your gallery just in case.

What’s your turn around time?

Weddings can be anywhere between 2 weeks and a month depending on how busy the season is at the time. All other sessions typically take about two weeks or less.

Should we provide a shot list?

I don’t prefer to work from a shot list. Chances are, anything you include in a shot list is something I am already planning to get. Shot lists can be a distractor and keep me with my head down all day while I’m trying to make sure I hit every item on your list instead of allowing me to be on the lookout for shots happening right in front of me. Of course, if there are some shots you absolutely must have, we can totally make that happen. Just know that you can trust me to capture your vision and help you bring it to life!

Can you help us plan?

Absolutely! Let me know what you need help with, including recommendations for vendors, aesthetic choices, location, and more. I love giving you all the resources and knowledge that I’ve gained over the last few years.

What should we wear to our session?

I always tell my clients to wear whatever makes them feel most like themselves. Casual is okay! You don’t have to dress up, especially if it’s not “you”. If you’re struggling, neutral and earthy tones photograph really well. I have a Pinterest board here for inspiration if you want to check it out! You can always reach out through text or email if you have questions - I’m here to help!

Do you do family photos, maternity photos, or babies?

I do! Just send me a message and we can make it happen!

WHAT HAPPENS IF…

What if we’re awkward?

Don’t even worry about it! It’s my job to make you look your best in front of the camera. Sometimes awkward can even be good. I’m all about experimentation. I’ll lead you with some prompts that’ll have you and your partner moving so it doesn’t feel so stiff. I’m all about capturing real emotion so I’ll do my best to guide you a direction that will give us some. I’m here to capture you in your element where the true love and emotions come out. Every couple is different and the way they show their love is unique to them.

Will you photoshop us?

No and here’s why. I’m a huge fan of capturing moments in their raw, honest form. I’m all about making you feel beautiful and confident just as you are! You can always feel free to reach out and inform me of any insecurities you may have and I’ll keep that in mind when photographing you. I am passionate about making you feel comfortable in your own skin and being your biggest hype woman.

Do you give out the RAW images?

Nope! Editing is an important factor in my style. When you book me, you are booking my artistic eye and creative expertise. I promise I’ll give you all the good ones.

What if there’s bad weather?

I always encourage embracing whatever weather comes our way, as it’s beautiful and unique in photos and can force a new level of creativity. Rain can look super cool and wind can make for awesome photos! If it is harsh enough that it would make our time together miserable or could possibly ruin my gear, we can always reschedule!

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

We can always reschedule if need be. Just keep me posted and we can make it happen. If you cancel your session, that’s super sad but I totally understand! I have a non-refundable deposit so you will not be receiving that portion back, but if you have paid more than the required deposit, I can pay you back for that portion.

What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding?

Heaven forbid this happens, as it would only happen if it were out of my control (accident, illness, death, disaster, etc.) but in this case I would first communicate with you about my situation and then do by best to help find a replacement photographer to take my place that I trust with a similar style. I will pay you back what you’ve paid me or deliver it straight to the new photographer. Another option would be hiring another photographer and I would would edit the images so you are still getting my style. If you are having a destination wedding/elopement, I will always plan to arrive at least a full day before the wedding. That way, even if we have delays no one is sweating!

TRAVEL QUESTIONS

Where are you out of? Do you travel?

I’m from a small town in northwest Ohio, but to be honest with you 90% of my work, whether it’s weddings, engagements, portraits, whatever, takes place all over Ohio. I love to travel. I’ve been all over including England, Ireland, Belgium, Washington, Arizona, and more! The sky is the limit. If you’re wanting to get married under the Northern Lights in Iceland, I’ll be there. You’re just dying to tie the knot at Joshua Tree? I’ll be there too. My passport is ready to go and up to date. Check out my bucket list destinations to see if your location would qualify for a discount.

How does covering travel expenses work?

Travel fees are separate from the prices you see listed in the pricing guide and only apply to locations more than 2 hours from Defiance, OH. These will include things like gas, meals (if necessary), flights, hotels, etc. If flights or hotel is required, I can either be the one to book them and I can send you an invoice, or you can book them directly for me.

What do i need to know about your travel collections?

For U.S. weddings or elopements, I will need at least 3 nights in a hotel and 4-5 nights of a hotel for international locations. Why so many nights? First, I don’t want to be jet-lagged while shooting your wedding. Second, I’d like to scout the location. Third, in case my flight is delayed. Permits and anything extra (like additional transportation, 4WD, ferries, etc.) are not included in the prices listed on the pricing guide.
